How to choose a tracker for your fleet
Before buying devices, answer a few questions. A wrong choice gets expensive: devices that do not connect, that do not read what you need or that do not work with your platform.
1. What will you track?
A car, a motorcycle, a truck, machinery and a person are not the same. Size, power supply and how hidden the device must be all change.
2. How is it powered?
Vehicle devices usually connect to the 12 or 24 volt battery. If the asset has no power of its own, you need a device with a long-life internal battery.
3. Which network does it use, and how is coverage where you operate?
The device sends data over the cellular network. Check which networks it supports (2G, 3G, 4G) and how the carrier's coverage looks along your routes. An excellent device with no signal is useless.
4. Do you need sensors?
If you will measure fuel, temperature, humidity, doors or weight, the device must have sensor inputs or Bluetooth. Choosing it from the start is cheaper than replacing it later.
5. Is it compatible with your platform?
Each manufacturer speaks its own "language" (protocol). The platform must understand it. At Fusión58 we work with our 58-1-1 device and with Teltonika, iStartek, Coban, Sinotrack and many other compatible brands.
6. Who installs it and who supports it?
A bad installation causes more failures than the device itself. Ask who installs it, how it is tested and what happens if it fails.
If you already have devices, we can check whether they connect to our platform before you buy anything.
